About the Challenge Process

ACDS allows experienced practitioners to challenge the Foundations in Community Disability Studies program and, if all the requirements are met, to obtain certification. If only some of the requirements are met, the challenge process will indicate what modules must be completed to obtain certification. 

The Foundations program is organized in three sections as outlined below.

Section 1: Setting the Stage

  • F104: Roles and Responsibilities
  • F105: Common Disabilities

Section 2: Getting the Basics

  • F108: Adaptive Equipment
  • F109: Universal Precautions and Infection Control
  • F110: Personal Hygiene Support
  • F111: Mealtimes and Nutrition

Section 3: Being Professional

  • F112: Promoting Wellness
  • F113: Facilitating Growth and Skill Development
  • F114: Interpersonal and Professional Communication Skills
  • F115: Personal and Professional Competence
Each section is challenged separately.
